Episode II - Düsseldorf/Aachen with Daniela Georgieva

In the second episode of Deep Talk NRW, kaput magazine talks to the artist Daniela Georgieva about her work, her motivation and inspiration.

Daniela Georgieva studied art at the Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie. Her artistic work is influenced by the Judson Dance Theater, a New York City based collective of dancers, choreographers, filmmakers and composers from the 1960s.

Georgieva is interested in the daily movements of humans, which she transfers into her art performances. Her last exhibition “quixotic essence of a breath of movement / 1×3“ was shown at NAK – Neuer Aachener Kunstverein.

Episode III - Duisburg with Ronja Schwikowski

In the third episode of “Deep Talk NRW” Kaput visits Ronja Schwikowski who came to Duisburg from Lower Bavaria. Just because of Punk. She now runs a mailorder and a magazine: “Plastic Bomb” is one of the most active brands in the contemporary German punks scene.

Schwikowski also is engaged in the #punktoo-movement which calls attention to sexism in the scene.

Episode IV - Krefeld with Vladimir Ivokvic

In the fourth episode of the documentary series “Deep Talk NRW”, we introduce you to Vladimir Ivkovic. We met the DJ and label owner of OFFEN MUSIC at Hülser Berg, a mysterious little forest north of Krefeld.

Episode V - Solingen with Lina Holzrichter & René Regier

Alter Walder Bahnhof – is a quiet lost and abandoned railway station in the rural part of Solingen. A place where you hardly expect one of the most exciting clubs in the Ruhrgebiet.

But there he is: The Waldmeister Club. We spoke with Lina Holzrichter and René Regier who – with a lot of other enthusiasts – are running the things at this special location.

Episode VI - Cologne with Dima Oboukhov, Keshav Purushotham & Niklas Schneider

Acephale is a club near a rail station, it’s located in the southern part of cologne. Not so long ago that Dima Oboukhov bought the club and a prospering space for the cologne music scene opened up. One of the resident bands is Keshavara mixing Indian music, krautrock, indie attitude nowadays with Vaudeville elements.

Their new album is called “Kabinett der Phantasie”. We visited Dima and also Keshav and Niklas to introduce us to the magic of Acephale and beyond.

Episode VII - Dortmund with Dimitri Hegemann

In the seventh episode of “Deep Talk NRW”, Kaput Mag was drawn to Dortmund, between former coal mining factories we suddenly found ourselves at the gates of Tresor West. The local counterpart to that legendary Berlin club. The operator of both nightlife institutions is Dimitri Hegemann.

Episode VIII - Cologne with Meryem Erkus

“Working twice for free always sucks!” Without her, Cologne’s subculture would be poorer by many places, events and experiences. At the time, Meryem Erkus gave the first live series “Köln ist kaput” (Cologne is broken) of the Kaput Mag a space in her gallery Gold + Beton under the Ebertplatz and, beyond that or in parallel, set up an incredible number of projects that grew far beyond Cologne. For the eighth episode of DEEP TALK NRW, Meryem takes us on a tour of the city’s off-locations.

Episode IX- Münster with Skuff Barbie

Skuff Barbie is one of the most talented german MCs of this decade. Her debut album will push the game to the next level, your mother and Olaf Scholz are not going to believe it.

Seriously, Skuff Barbie born in Münster but with familiar roots in Equatorial Guinea impressed us more than any other artist in a long time. Give a warm hand to … Skuff Barbie!

Episode X- Hedda Schattanik & Roman Szczesny

For the last episode of our “Deep Talk NRW” series, we met up in the spring of 2020 with Hedda Schattanik & Roman Szczesny in the rooms of their Düsseldorf based gallery Sies + Höke to conduct a deep talk. But in the end the artists decided to come up with a work of their own, reflecting our ambitions. We are right on blown away.
