TRANSURBAN Residency | Gelsenkirchen
After the successful pilot project in Cologne in 2019, the project “TRANSURBAN Residency – Building Common Spaces” is coming to the Ruhr Area this summer. During the two residencies in Gelsenkirchen (04 July – 08 August) and Dortmund (15 August – 12 September), local and international artists, urban researchers, city dwellers and students will explore and experience the potential of public and derelict spaces as places for community, encounter and exchange.
The aim of the project is to create mutual understanding for urban life regarding the structural change in the Ruhr Area and its post-industrial heritage. Also, the project wants to develop and test innovative models on how to use and design public spaces of the future. The project focuses on urban art as a motor of urban genesis and as a medium for urban negotiations.
Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? More info coming soon.
