SUMMARY:Anniversary of the Julia Stoschek Collection
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, the Julia Stoschek Foundation is organizing the first OUT OF SPACE – Festival for Time-Based Media Art in June 2022. Designed as a 15-day temporary intervention in Düsseldorf’s urban space, various locations in the city will feature selected works from the Julia Stoschek Collection. Under the title OUT OF SPACE, the festival is dedicated to leaving the classical exhibition space behind, moving instead into urban terrain and thus leaving the usual presentation framework of time-based media art.\nIn addition, Hans Ulrich Obrist will curate an anniversary exhibition of works from the Julia Stoschek Collection to mark its anniversary. The group exhibition will explore the relationship between gaming and time-based art and integrate new works.\nBy combining past works with current works, a connection will be made from the past to the present. The combination of these works, which engage – in different ways – with the aesthetics of video games, maps both recent developments in moving image art and the potential of the intersection between video games and art.\n
